Terms of service
Last updated 20 October 2026
These terms are the rules for playing Crostica, on the web and in the apps. They're written to be read. Where they say "we" or "us", they mean the person who runs the game, named below. Where they say "you", they mean you, the player.
1. Who we are and agreeing to these terms
Crostica is run by Guy Montza, in Israel. You can reach us at support@crostica.com. A company that Guy controls may take over the game later. If that happens, we'll tell you first, and these terms will then be between you and that company.
By playing Crostica, as a guest or with an account, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the game.
You must be 13 or older to play. If you're under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
2. Your licence to play
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play Crostica for your own enjoyment. We can take it back if you break these terms. The game, its puzzles, design and code stay ours or our licensors'.
You may not:
- copy, decompile or reverse engineer the game, except where the law allows it anyway;
- scrape puzzles, answers or leaderboards;
- use bots, scripts or any other automated play or solving;
- get around limits, such as the build limits or coin costs, or try to break into the game or its systems.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in secure. That means your email inbox and your Apple account, since that's how you sign in. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, cheats, or abuses other players or the game. If we do, to the extent permitted by law, you lose any coins and any remaining subscription time, without a refund, except where the law requires one.
4. Coins
Coins are the game's virtual currency. You earn them by solving puzzles and spend them on hints, and you may be able to buy them in the apps.
- Coins are a limited licence to use a feature of the game. They are not money and not your property.
- Coins have no cash value. You can't withdraw them, sell them, swap them for money, or give or transfer them to anyone else.
- There is no way to turn coins back into money.
- Coins are sold only in the apps. Apple or Google process the payment under their own terms. Refunds go through their refund process only, unless the law requires otherwise.
- To the extent permitted by law, you lose your coins if your account is deleted or closed, or if the game shuts down.
- To the extent permitted by law, we may change coin prices, what things cost in coins, and how many coins you earn.
If you live in the EU, the UK or Israel and buy coins, you ask us to deliver them straight away. Where the law allows, you accept that once delivery starts you lose your right to cancel the purchase.
5. Crostica Pro
Crostica Pro is a subscription we may offer in the apps. If and when we offer it:
- it renews automatically until you cancel it;
- Apple or Google bill it, and you manage or cancel it in your Apple or Google account settings;
- a free trial, if there is one, turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends;
- we may change what Pro includes, and we'll tell you before we do;
- refunds follow Apple's or Google's rules.
6. Puzzles, quotes and AI
Many puzzles, clues and answers are written with the help of AI. They may have mistakes, quotes credited to the wrong person, or text that some people find offensive. If you spot a problem, signed-in players can report the puzzle in the game, and anyone can email us. We'll look at it.
Quotes belong to their authors. The game shows short quotes as part of a puzzle, for play and commentary, and doesn't claim to own them.
7. Leaderboard names
The leaderboard shows a name the game makes up for you, like "Curious Otter". To the extent permitted by law, we may change or remove any name, for example if it turns out to be offensive. In Settings you can get a new name or keep yourself off the leaderboards.
8. No guarantees
To the extent permitted by law, the game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise that it will always be up, that it will be free of errors, or that your progress, times or coins will always be kept.
9. Limits on our liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- we're not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost profit or lost time;
- our total liability to you for everything to do with the game is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything else that the law where you live doesn't allow us to limit.
10. If you misuse the game
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover us for claims, losses and reasonable costs that come from your misuse of the game or your breaking these terms.
11. Changes, and ending the game
To the extent permitted by law, we may change the game, stop parts of it, or shut it down. We may also change these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the game or on this site before it applies, and the date at the top will change. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
You can stop playing at any time. If you're signed in, you can delete your account at any time in Settings. Guest data is deleted after 30 days without use.
12. Which law applies, and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa decide any dispute. This doesn't take away the consumer protections that the law of the country you live in gives you and that can't be waived, including any right to bring a claim there.
If you have a problem, email support@crostica.com first. We'll try to sort it out with you informally before either of us goes to court.
13. Apple and Google
If you got the app from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply. Where the store's terms and these terms disagree about your licence to use the app, the store's terms win.
Apple is not a party to these terms. Apple has no duty to maintain or support the app, gives no warranty for it, and isn't responsible for any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Google is not a party to these terms either, and has no duty to maintain, support or warrant the app.
14. The rest
If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, that part applies as far as it can, and the rest still applies. These terms, the privacy policy and, in the apps, the store's terms from section 13 are the whole agreement between you and us about the game. If we don't enforce a rule straight away, we can still enforce it later.
